All-American Love

All-American Love

You're looking on,
And it's that same ol' song
That we used to sing
When we set sail for the sun.
Those pretty eyes
Cry out a shade of blue.
It's why I fell for you
As we set out for life's fun.

An All-American love
As patriotic as apple pie,
A homemade goodness
Like your grandma used to make.
It's so very simple, and yet no,
It simply amazes and astounds.
It shan't ever die but instead persist to grow.

On through the horizon
Through mountains, prairies, to the ocean,
Through the peaks and valleys
That seem to make one blind.
A lover's quarrel
And we say churl,
But we don't really mind.
As long as we're the other's company,
All's sublime.

An All-American rebellious spirit
Casts our hopes forward.
We couldn't tame the flames
Even if we tried.
Cross me a river,
She won't mind,
For the whole journey
Would never cease to wind.
Love's door shall never close,
For we have the key.
