Life's Indiscretions September 6, 2009
O' when the sun dies as the moon rises forth
And shreds the light in the sky,
The crickets awaken from hibernation
And serenade listeners to sweet sorrows
Of a young man and woman in duress.
'Tis the twilight of an old day,
The climax of many days and years
Between these two ex lovers
Who have banished thoughts of marriage
As life's wildfire burnt asunder
What aspirations they had.
They were eager learners in an epicenter,
Matriculating all there was to learn
For life's grand voyages,
And yet still, despite their lust for knowledge,
They drifted away from their white light,
Falling victim to time's two pronged wages
Of love and living, of peace and posterity.
Since that time, the woman
Has produced children
To add to Mother Earth's collection,
While the man incessantly weeps,
His soul ripped from his heart,
And is another casualty of life's indiscretions.
And shreds the light in the sky,
The crickets awaken from hibernation
And serenade listeners to sweet sorrows
Of a young man and woman in duress.
'Tis the twilight of an old day,
