Red Skies for My Green Eyes

Red Skies for My Green Eyes

If I told you I looked
For some red skies,
You'd think I was asking
For some red wine.
Daytime to nightime,
Changing clockwise,
It shows in the crimson clouds
What it beholds.
Oh, wouldn't you believe
They could be so fair?

Mother of pearl
Down on the Earth
Sends her joy
From the sea to the eyes.
But it ain't got a thing
For my green eyes
Like those red skies do for me.
Oh, wouldn't you believe
They could be so fair?

Red skies, oh me, oh my!
I exclaim in a vociferous cry.
Red skies are beautiful,
For they mean one thing:
The Black Widow is coming
To seduce the Day's blithe.

As the Day withers away
To yet another death,
Those red skies give way
To Night's smoldering ash.
And whilst I'm aware that it won't last,
I'll enjoy and still not believe
It all is so fair.
