Shooting Stars

Shooting Stars                          September 24, 2008

Across the wheat fields
Boy and girl do run.
Across the miles of smiles
They laugh and have fun,
And what of the prognosticators
Who would kill that love?
Their spirits shall shine through
Hell and above.

Lovers' whimsically delight
And shine beneath a starry sky,
For it was foretold
They'd unleash a dervish from up high.
Smile on smile,
They laughed all the while
Across the fruited landscapes
From here to Shangri-la

And they're just two lovers
Never set in their ways -
No blades to split them
Apart for days,
And I wonder what kind of love
We have in our midst -
They're just two souls,
Like shooting stars during night.

A tussle in the grass,
And the heat is spread.
Lighting bugs herald
True loves's bed.
Life's perpetuation will march on again,
Never to be disturbed,
Never to be dimmed.
