The Past is Just a Goodbye

The Past is Just a Goodbye                              February 9, 2009

Now never lasts more than a hair of a second.
Tomorrow hasn't made it, so.
All we have to think about is yesterday.
All the past is just another goodbye.

Looking through encylodpedias,
Thumbing through family histories,
Remembering lovers way back and gone,
All the past is just another goodbye.

Now I look at the calender,
Following my wiles,
Realize that my time here
Is finite to fit the wheels.
The present is now,
The future but a blink away,
But history is infinite,
It exists in so many ways.
Remember the way it was yesterday,
The past is just another goodbye.

What does a lover got to do
When her actions are just yesterday?
I don't know, but she's on the road,
For the past is just another goodbye.

Now I once was a petty chief
In the middle of Nowhereland.
Didn't know about my place
Or was clear on where to steer.
But history is infinite,
You'll make your mark someday.
Remember the way was yesterday,
The past is just another goodbye.
