If You Had Told Me August 24, 2009
If you had told me I'd love you,
I wouldn't have believed you.
Your ways are so crude,
And mannerisms, so rude.
If you had told me I'd love you,
I wouldn't believe you,
But now I do,
And you're the best thing
Yet to happen to me
After all.
You're a real smooth talker,
A bonafide grandstander.
You're a hell of a person,
And that's putting it kindly.
Yet, I love you, that much is true,
And I don't know how I do,
But Fair Fate has come and cast a spell,
And what the hell?
I guess God had his way.
If you had told me I'd love you,
I might have called you charleton.
Unlikely, perhaps,
But now we're lovers wrestling
All over the bed.
If you had told me I'd love you,
I'd have said you're nuts,
But instead, we're a match,
Perhaps from Heaven, but probably of Hell.
