Glutton for Punishment

Glutton for Punishment                       July 27, 2009

I must be a fool for love.
I keep on falling end over up,
Falling flat on my face,
Dirt and grime screams the details.
But if I may be so bold
As to say whether or not I'm stupid,
Well, I'm a glutton for punishment,
My very own pain.

I'm a glutton for punishment,
The result of all those foolish games.
Strike up the trumpet,
Take a two-step into the bottomless pit.
I'm a glutton for punishment,
I never learn from verb to petty verb.
I'm a glutton for punishment;
God save me.

I have fooled around so much,
It's hard to bare.
I failed to reach up and touch the stars
Or find my true love's possessive stare.
It seems that I have trouble
Settling down with just one frou,
And now it begins to rain and storm,
So let the punishment pour.

I'm a glutton for punishment,
The result of all those foolish games.
Strike up the trumpet
Take a two-step into the bottomless pit.
I'm a glutton for punishment.
I never learn from verb to petty verb.
I'm a glutton for punishment;
God save me.
