Hitchhiking

Hitchhiking                               May 27, 2011

Hitchhiking out to the West Coast,
I see you haven't changed in 20 damn years.
Oh, I remember the time
When you struck my fancy,
But then, where was the fun in all of that?

And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for direction
From all this pomp and circumstance B.S.
And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for redemption
From all I've done insane.

Girl, you don't know your weight in gold
Until you quit soliciting along the street corner,
That time of everyday, you know,
When you out and out sin?
Oh, you'll just do it again and again....

And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for direction
From all this pomp and circumstance B.S.
And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for redemption
From all I've done insane.

And friend, you're still peddlin' reefer
As if it were still 1999,
Just getting by on cheap tricks
And cheap, faux wine.
You're bound and determined to relive old kicks.

And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for direction
From all the pomp and circumstance B.S.
And so I walk on, perpetually,
Looking for my big pay day,
Looking for redemption
From all I've done insane.
