Save Me

Save Me                        March 22, 2012

For many years, I have walked alone -
Roamed the streets of Hell
Just wishing I was faster than a snail.
For many years, and through many tears -
I've come to wonder about you, God.
Then, she came along,
Reached out her hand, and set me free.
That changed my perspective rather radically.

Perhaps this is His way of saying,
You know, to save me a life of degradation,
A life full of consternation,
Without love.
And all those times before,
Life was giving me its tour,
Perhaps teaching me what it is like to be fallen.

And then there's you, my lady,
And all that radiant hair,
Lips lush red as blood flowing through a vein.
And this is you, my lady,
Your countenance is so fair!
Could you be an angel in disguise?
Could you be an angel descended from the sky?

Perhaps this is his way of saying,
You know, to save me a life of degradation,
A life full of consternation
Without love.
And all those times before,
Life was giving me its tour,
Perhaps teaching me what it's like to be fallen.

Once there was a man who sailed to sea.
He had left home, thought he had given it all away.
Once there was a man who cried to God,
"Why torture me so every night?"
But now she's here, with the Midas touch.
Once there was a man performing a solo act,
But not anymore, and in its stead, two souls
Dance in the pale of the moonlight.
