My eyes seem tantalized

By your sweet demeanor.

Even the blue birds

Take notice, too.

My eyes are transfixed

As you walk to and fro,

And yet, I know the answer is "no."

You have a gracious gait,

Dear, sweet Faith,

And I yearn for your love so.

And yet, I know the answer is "no."

In all of my years,

And I've lived quite a few,

I've never seen a beauty

Quite like you.

Silky skin, flowing blond hair,

And your zest for life,

I don't believe I've seen

The likes of you before.

But when I see you,

My heart just flies...

...and yet, I know the answer is "no."

Every time I see your shadow,

Another one accompanies it,

And my heart just melts away.

We laugh together,

Joke together,

Talk coyly to the other

As though we were two hearts

Conjoined through love.

Love knows no mercy,

And it never comes free,

And as much as I'd like to pilfer,

I'm bound to my honor.

I know the answer to be "no."
