Love Isn't Simply Just a Thing

Love Isn't Simply Just a Thing                               March 4, 2006

Love, if by any other notion, is a mystery.
Love, if by a cornerstone of humanity, is tenuous.
We take this thing God gave us
And do the strangest things with it.
I know what you're thinking,
That it's simply just a thing,
That love is simply just a silly ol' thing,
But if you think that, you're a fool,
The biggest one of them all.
Wars have been initiated in its name,
And what if both sides were pacified?

Love isn't simply just a thing,
Contrary to what fools around the world believe.
Love has two very distinct sides,
As does everything here in this universe.
As in man there are "man" and "woman,"
So too, in love, there are "love" and "hate."
One can live life in peace and harmony,
Or can exist in a state of peril and bitterness.
If you had one or the other from which to choose,
Which one would you pick?
