Undiscovered Country July 19, 2006
I've been taking a hike all live-life long,
Through the plains and green valleys,
To the tune of God's melodious song.
I've parted the way through many murky seas,
Climbed cloud-ascending mountains
That pierced the blue of cloudy skies.
But now, the fat lady sits and grins,
And I become relegated to deepening sighs.
The land is level now.
'Tis undiscovered country, no doubt.
I have ridden many roller coasters in my day.
I have laughed and I have cried time and again away.
There have been too many thoughts to name.
No matter, for they all wind up being one and the same.
I never thought about feelings, really,
Since I thought they all had died.
I've looked into the eyes of a man with a gun,
And my mind played Russian Roulette, yet never cried.
Life has never meant much in the way of fun,
And the sunshine never really meant it was day.
At least I knew what to expect then,
Though I didn't know that was no win.
It was uncharted territory, the new world,
The undiscovered country as the fog swirled.
