Love's Trail of Tears July 9, 2006
When I see loving people hand in hand,
I look aside and wonder where is mine.
Thoughts of love have carried me down the trail
For many years, and now I'm left lonely,
A dialectical proposal, the fork of many roads.
So, who am I to blame for this misery
With pithy thoughts I scrounged from the hollow mind,
And hurt in ways tangible only to a rock without feeling?
I guess I resign myself to believe in the defeatist mode
That I should reside myself in love's trail of tears.
Now I've seen my fair share of ladies just staring around,
With nothing more than inquisitive eyes
For what the body might find as sublime.
I've never seen so much energy, though, as I do every time
When two happy lovers by happenstance pass me by,
And that leaves me wondering if I'll ever be as they are when I die.
