Fatal Memories
I hope to live to light the candle again,
For memories abound at every turn.
I know that life will never be the same,
For those past events make the present burn.
Fatal memories, you leave me blind
To the present excursions of the mind.
You leave me yearning for the lost love I can't find.
When she left, I sailed out to sea,
But the waves were rough and didn't seem to agree.
They tried to convince me she's not my cup of tea.
Mary Jo glistened like an angel.
Her voice beckoned this soul like a bell,
But then the unthinkable happened,
And God must've thought I sinned.
Fatal memories, you leave me blind
To the present excursions of the mind.
You leave me yearning for the lost love I can't find.
When she left, I sailed out to sea,
But the waves were rough and didn't seem to agree.
They tried to convince me she's not my cup of tea.
And at the crematory, I looked on,
A burning sadness fueled by a sad song,
And then I saw the flame,
And she burned her print in my mind again.
Fatal memories, you leave me blind
To the present excursions of the mind.
You leave me yearning for the lost love I can't find.
When she left, I sailed out to sea,
But the waves were rough and didn't seem to agree.
They tried to convince me she's not my cup of tea.
